Stuck…

Have you ever felt like you couldn’t move because life has you embedded in perpetual quicksand? Yeah, I know that feeling all too well.

Feeling stuck in your journey, whether it be academically, career-wise, mentally, emotionally, in your relationship, or somewhere else entirely. I’ve felt it all. Heck, I still feel it all.

I feel more stuck than I’ve ever felt in my entire life.

I feel like I’ve been lost but somehow found at the same time. Motherhood has a way of making you feel that way. Like you have no clue which direction you want to go, but you know that you want to find your North Star and keep moving forward.

You know that if you take small steps forward, you are at least making some progress out of the thick mud that has you stuck. Sometimes, the movement may make you feel like you aren’t doing enough or doing anything to propel yourself forward. But if it’s movement in the right direction, then you’re going somewhere. You’re making progress.

We have to stop telling ourselves that life has to be all figured out today. Our never-ending to-do lists will always have 100,000 tabs open with things we feel like we need to accomplish each day or week.

We have to be mindful of our capacity and our ability to get stuck in the roles we play.

Stuck in mom mode.

Stuck in wife or partner mode.

Stuck in our careers.

Stuck in school.

Stuck in the version of ourselves that life seems to require from us right now.

Life will make you feel like you can’t be more than the role you currently play, and that’s so untrue.

We have to find joy in the little things. In the ordinary moments. In the moments that make us feel alive. The moments that don’t leave us feeling stuck and unhappy.

I’m still figuring it out, but I’m working hard to feel unstuck because I need to feel alive again. I need to feel like the version of me that’s ready to be a phoenix rising out of the ashes.

But first, I have to get unstuck.
